The first ever Anthrax Pub Crawl started auspiciously with an appearance by my good friend Andrea and her crew @ Wrightwood Tap. With a start like this you know it’s gonna be a great weekend!
In an effort to stem global climate change and reduce our carbon footprint, this Friday night we are introducing an eco-sized version of those monster SUV-like 12 Bars of Christmas pub crawls by introducing a greener alternative, namely the First annual Five Bars of Xmas which I am hosting with my running club.
No hundreds or thousands of people, no waiting in long lines to get into bars, no fanfare or drama, no Mizzou game, no free Santa hats, no CLTV camera crews, no kissing interns, just wristbands, drink specials and some friends whom I might actually get a chance to finally hang out with.
6:30 - 8:30 Kickoff with TWO HOURS of FREE BEER at the very cool Wrightwood Tap (1059 W. Wrightwood) in the heart of Lincoln Park.
8:30 – 9:00 Bottle Bar – 950 W. Wolfram (old Cherry Red’s backroom) $2 Miller High Life minis, $1 off on any of their 99 bottled beers as well as a $3 shot special.
9:00 – 9:30 – Mad River – 2909 N. Sheffield – $3 Coors Light drafts!
9::30 – 10:00 Bar TBA (NOT Party Central)
10:00 – 10:30 Mix – 2843 N. Halsted – Absolut and Absolut flavors for $4 and domestic bottles at $3.
10:30 – ??? THE UNION TAVERN – 2858 N. Halsted – TJ at the Union showed is WHY this is an ending bar by offering $2 Miller/Bud Light drafts, and $3 Santa’s Helper Shots. Specials good all night long! You can even hang out in the outdoor beer garden if it’s not colder than Stalingrad in January!
Wristbands are free, all are welcome. Thumb your nose at Chavez and OPEC and help save the planet by coming out Friday night for a "light pub crawl".

Last year so many people from Big Hump came ready to rock they blew out our party at The Union so this year we’ve brought friends to the fight and are unleashing a full-blown Fuji pub crawl instead. Will Big Hump have GAME? Can Indyscent REPRESENT? Will Madison swear off drinking alcohol forever after HITTING THIS WALL? Come find out!
Environmentally-Friendly Public Transit 
From Lincoln Park/Lakeview: Red Line or Brown Line to Fullerton, hoof it two blocks North to Wrightwood and West 1 block to Seminary.
From Wicker Park/Bucktown: Blue Line to California, Fullerton #74 Bus East to Sheffield, hoof it two block North on Sheffield to Wrightwood and 1 block West to Seminary.
Driving 
Hop into your hooptie and cruise to the Wrightwood/Lincoln/Sheffield six-way intersection and try and find parking. Good luck as it’s Lincoln Park on a Friday night. Best bet is by adjacent Jonquil Park between Wrightwood and Lill just West of Sheffield. Watch out for the side streets as most are Zone 143 Resident Permit Parking only ($85 ticket fine!). Driving to pub crawls is like looking for a gas leak with a cigarette lighter. Just say no.
